Frederic Lamond (1868-1948) achieved an international reputation as an outstanding concert pianist, especially as an interpreter of Beethoven. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1869, he worked as a church organist while developing his technique as a pianist. He left Glasgow for Frankfurt, Germany, where he studied piano with Max Schwarz and Hans Von Blow (1830-1894).
